Yes — professional move-out cleaning fully qualifies for the kotitalousvähennys. The Finnish Tax Administration (Vero) allows the deduction for cleaning services performed at your home, including final/move-out cleaning. How does the €150 threshold work?

The €150 threshold (omavastuu) is subtracted from your total annual tax credit once per calendar year — not from each invoice separately. So if your move-out clean is your only household service claim that year, subtract €150 from the 35% calculation. If you've already claimed other household services (like regular cleaning earlier in the year), the threshold may already be covered and you get the full 35% back.

Does HyväCleaning qualify for the deduction?

Yes. HyväCleaning is registered in the ennakkoperintärekisteri (prepayment register), which is required for customers to claim the household tax deduction. We provide a proper invoice with all details needed for your OmaVero tax return — business ID, service date, and labor cost breakdown. You can verify our registration at ytj.fi.

How do I claim it in OmaVero?

Log in to OmaVero at vero.fi and add the deduction under "Kotitalousvähennys." You'll need our business ID 3598125-9, the date of service, and the labor cost amount from your invoice. You can either add it during the year to reduce your monthly tax withholding, or claim it in your annual tax return. Keep your invoice — Vero may request it as proof.

What happens if my apartment fails the HOAS, SATO, or Lumo inspection?

If your apartment fails the final inspection, the landlord or housing company — whether HOAS, SATO, Lumo, Heka, HASO, Asuntosäätiö, or a private landlord — has the right to arrange professional cleaning themselves and deduct the full cost from your security deposit. You can ask your landlord to allow you back in to re-clean, but according to the Finnish Competition and Consumer Authority (KKV), the landlord has no legal obligation to agree. If they refuse — and most housing companies do — they hire their own cleaning company at their own rates and invoice you the full cost, which is typically far higher than booking a professional in advance. HOAS specifically states they order cleaning and repair work immediately after the moving inspection and invoice tenants according to their official tenant charge sheet. The safest approach is always to have the apartment professionally cleaned before the inspection, not after.
